What Is Reiki

A gentle Japanese practice of energy healing

Reiki is a Japanese energy-healing practice in which a practitioner channels universal life-force energy through gentle touch, or a light hands-above-the-body technique, to support the body’s own capacity to heal. The name itself carries the meaning: Rei — universal wisdom — and Ki — life-force energy, the same vital energy known in the yogic tradition as prāṇa.

When this energy flows freely, people often experience greater physical vitality, emotional balance, mental clarity and a deeper sense of spiritual well-being. At Parasha Foundation, Reiki is taught and offered alongside our meditation, mindfulness and prāṇa-based practices, within the same living tradition as the rest of the ashram. It is gentle and non-invasive, and can be safely received by people of all ages.

Reiki is a complementary healing practice. It supports, and does not replace, professional medical diagnosis or treatment.
